North-Caucasian military court (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) sentenced 19-year old citizen of Ukraine Artur Panov for eight years of imprisonment for preparing a terrorist attack in Rostov-on-Don. The court sentenced his “facilitator” Maksim Smyshliaev for ten years, as TASS reports.

The court found Panov guilty under Articles 205.1 (Contributing to Terrorist Activity), 205 (Act of Terrorism), and 223.1 (Illegal Manufacture of explosives) of Russia’s Criminal Code.

19-year-old Artur Panov moved to Rostov-on-Don from Ukraine in November 2015, and was detained in December 2015 under the suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack.

The prosecution believes, he was planning to perform a terrorist attack with a self-made explosive, which he wanted to detonate in a big shopping mall. 34 year-old Russian Maksim Smyshliaev was charged with facilitation. Smyshliaev denied the allegations, Panov admitted partly.
