Russian Air Force will present the Su-57 stealth fighter jet at an air show not far from Moscow. President Vladimir Putin is expected to attend the event on Tuesday, July 20.
According to Reuters, the Russian government considers exporting the vehicle; the air show will host pilots from other countries, namely UAE, India, Vietnam and Argentina.
In early 2020, a source in the Russian Defense Ministry interviewed by The Diplomat reported that Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter could be equipped with a hypersonic air-to-ground missile; the projectile can fit in the aircraft's internal weapon bay, which would make the fighter even harder to detect by the radars.
"In December 2018, a defense industry source revealed that the Su-57 may be armed with a hypersonic air-to-surface missile with “characteristics” similar to that of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal (“Dagger”) air-launched ballistic missile (ALBM). The source did not provide any additional details regarding the missile. However, given the large size of the Kinzhal, the new hypersonic missile will likely be smaller given that it reportedly fits inside the Su-57’s internal weapons bay", reads the article at The Diplomat.
