Russia is ready to return to Ukraine the old military vehicles based in Crimea. Russian president Vladimir Putin said that at a press conference with Russian media.
‘We’re ready to carry on with this process: we’re ready to give Ukraine back the combat vessels, aviation, and armored vehicles from Crimea. These vehicles – dozens of ships and combat aircraft – are in terrible conditions. There is also a lot of ammunition; but, according to our military experts, it cannot be transported – it should be destroyed at once. We’re ready to invite Ukrainian experts so that they can utilize this ammunition’, he said.
In 2014, Russia said it would pass Ukraine 350 firearms and military vehicles within the asset inventory in Crimea. It appeared to be basically Soviet vehicles of the 1970s; the Russian government said it could not be used in the regular Russian army.
