The Russian Federation blamed a U.S. Navy ship for crossing its naval borders, threatening to ram the American destroyer, USS John S. McCain.
According to BBC, the vessel allegedly left the area in the Sea of Japan after the threat; at the same time, the US Navy Command denies any violations. The authority claimed that no one sent off their destroyer.
Russian Defense Ministry claimed that its destroyer from the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Vinogradov contacted the American vessel via the international communication channel. The Russian crew warned the Americans they could ram their ship in order to drive John S. McCain out of their territorial waters. In turn, Joe Keiley, the representative of the 7th Fleet denied the Russian side's statement. "USS John S McCain was not 'expelled' from any nation's territory", he said.
Earlier, in January 2020, naval vessels of U.S. and Russia barely evaded collision in the Arabian Sea.
