Defense Minister of Russia Sergey Shoigu reported the beginning of scheduled inspection of combat readiness of the Armed Forces as RIA News reported. 

“The troops entered firing ranges to hold tactic, tactic and special, and bilateral exercises,” the minister stated.

He demanded from the subordinates to ‘provide a high quality of control exercise and safety during the movement of the military echelons and hardware’.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the inspections will be held in all military districts and the Northern Fleet, as well as in the areas of the Far North, Kuril Islands and the Kamchatka Peninsula. All types of forces will participate in it. Meanwhile, in the Eastern Military District, the inspection will be held by the commission of the General Staff.

The Russian Defense Ministry also informed about the planned on April 4,048 drills of different scale. The training exercises will include 812 bilateral drills that will take place at 101 firing ranges and 520 objects of training aids supply.

Earlier, Ruslan Khomchak, the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the Russian Federation gathers tactical forces from its western and southern regions and brings them close to the Ukrainian border.

The U.S. State Department believes that reports on the movement of the Russian military at the border with Ukraine are credible and asked Moscow to explain ‘provocations’.
