Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, claimed that the Kremlin was ready to exchange ambassadors with Ukraine. Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported that on February 10.
"It seems someone mentioned Zelensky's possible decision to return the ambassadors. We don't mind", Lavrov said.
According to the official, there is a relation between Ukraine and Russia in the areas of transport, humanitarian issues, family relationships, and the economy. He said that putting barriers in transport connections and communication between the two countries was "ill-minded".
Ukraine and Russia recalled their ambassadors for consultations in 2014.
In 2018, the Ukrainian Parliament passed the law that ceased the Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Lavrov stated that Ukraine creates new obstacles to the exchange of prisoners with Donbas militants. "In Paris, they called on the contact group to agree on lists for the exchange od all established persons. The goal was to exchange "all-for-all", but when they compared the lists all these years, it turned out that not all prisoners were mutually confirmed ... Now a new criterion appeared in the contact group: the established persons - ok, but they are not all “procedurally cleaned.” This means a new obstacle for people to return home before Christmas and the New Year,” the Russian Foreign Minister noted.
