Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko stated that the withdrawal of the United States from the Open Skies treaty would affect the interests of all of its participants, who are also members of NATO. It was reported by Reuters with reference to RIA Novosti.
"Russia has not violated the treaty and nothing prevents the continuation of talks on technical issues that the U.S. says are the violations by the Russian side," he said.
As we reported earlier, the intention of the U.S. to abandon the treaty was announced by its President Donald Trump yesterday, on May 21.
"Russia did not adhere to the treaty, so until they adhere, we will pull out," Trump said.
The U.S. administration stated that Russia had repeatedly interfered with American monitoring flights, using its missions to collect reconnaissance data in the U.S.
However, according to the U.S. President, the withdrawal would not ncrease tensions with Russia. "No, I think that we're going to have (a) very good relationship with Russia," Trump added.
