Russia elected the official mascot for FIFA World Cup 2018. According to Vitaliy Mutko, the head of Russia’s football union, told the press it will be the wolf called Zabyvaka – the Russian word for ‘top goal scorer’. Interfax quoted Mutko on Saturday morning as the results of the respective public voting were released.
The mascot wolf eventually prevailed over a tiger and a cat.
Previously, 13 U.S. senators wrote the letter saying that holding the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia equals supporting Putin’s regime in this country.
