The Russian Federation has deployed potential nuclear weapons in the occupied Crimea and continues to develop military infrastructure. First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova stated this at the ‘Ukraine 30’ forum.
“Russia is actively developing the Crimean military infrastructure for its nuclear weapons. It is reconstructing the infrastructure of Soviet-era nuclear warheads. Potential nuclear weapons’ carriers have already been deployed on the peninsula,” she said.
Dzhaparova highlighted that Russia is increasing its military presence in Crimea and the Black Sea territory to strengthen its dominance on the peninsula.
As it was reported earlier, in the beginning of the year the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense declared that Russia prepared for nuclear weapon placement in the territory of the occupied Crimea.
Moreover, in June Stockholm International Peace Research Institute reported that Russia and the United States had increased the number of deployed nuclear warheads after writing off some nuclear weapons in 2020.
