“Russia’s Investigative Committee determined new facts of ill-treatment towards the civilians and use of banned means and ways of conducting war by the Ukrainian soldiers in Donbas… Criminal cases under the articles of Russia’s Criminal Code were launched,” the message says.
The representatives of the committee stated that on February 16, Ukrainian servicemen attacked at the infrastructural objects near Dokuchayevske (Donetsk region) from small arms, and on February 18, fired at the civilian infrastructural objects in occupied Donetsk from Minsk-banned weapons.
“Their actions were probably aimed at murdering or harming the civilians, who live in the south-east of Ukraine and those who take part in the armed conflict. Political and ideological hatred and hostility is a reason for such crimes. It is connected with the fact that the residents of that region refused to recognize the legitimacy of the current government, as they want to create their own administrative-territorial units,” the message says.
At the same time, it was added that the members of the Committee are carrying out investigative procedures and operations.
It is not the first time Russia opens inquiries against Ukrainian servicemen. Earlier, the Investigation Committee opened a criminal proceeding against the Ukrainian soldiers who allegedly attacked Sakhanka village, Donetsk region from artillery.
