The Nord Stream 2 project (construction of Russian gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine) is completed by three quarters. The project operator has begun laying the final part of the pipe, according to the company's website.

1,855 km of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline were laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea in the waters of Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Germany. This is 75% of the total length of two threads. Thus, Nord Stream 2 AG proceeded to lay the final quarter of the pipeline.

The company noted that the construction of both threads of the gas pipeline was fully completed in the territorial waters of Germany and Finland, and pipe laying continues in the territorial waters of Russia.

Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic countries and the USA are actively opposing Nord Stream 2. They urge the authorities of the European Union to block this project, saying that it is a "gas needle", which increases the dependence of Europeans on energy supplies from the Russian Federation.

Ukraine, in the case of the launch of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year, will lose $ 2-3 billion in revenue from the transit of blue fuel through its gas transportation system, which is almost 3% of GDP. The commissioning of Nord Stream 2, estimated at 9.5 billion euros, is scheduled for late 2019.
