Russia does not intend to include the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as Vasyl Hrytsak, the Head of Ukraine’s Security Service, said at the briefing.
“The Kremlin has never considered the so-called “LNR”, “DNR” as possible subjects to be included in Russia. Its real goal is to return them to Ukraine, as federal, autonomous or other formations with a right to veto the European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine. Russia needed and needs to create at least an illusion of the legitimacy of these pseudo-republics to achieve that. That is why, Russia imitates the process of free expression in ORDLO (occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, - ed.) through conduction of the so-called elections,” Hrytsak said.
As it was reported, the militants scheduled the so-called elections in occupied Donbas on Sunday, on November 11. The “heads of the republics” and “the people’s deputies” are to be elected. Ukraine and the international community have already condemned such “elections”. The representatives of the Kremlin stated that they decide on recognition or non-recognition after the final results. The President of Ukraine expects new anti-Russian sanctions due to the “voting” it organized in occupied Donbas.
The Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council Oleksandr Turchynov stated that all the organizers and the participants of the “elections” on November 11 would be defined and prosecuted in compliance with the Ukrainian legislation.
