The Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case against a number of commanders of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, allegedly involved in the shelling of the civilian population in the Donbas region in March 2016. It is reported by the press service of the RF IC.
"Criminal cases under Art. 356 Part 1 of the Criminal Code (use of prohibited means and methods of warfare) opened against the commander of the 72th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Andriy Sokolov, commander of the 93rd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Vladyslav Klochkov, the commander of the 30th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed forces of Ukraine Colonel Vitaly Yakubov, commander of the 1st battalion of the 14th mechanized brigade of the Armed forces of Ukraine Lieutenant Colonel Mychaylo Prokopiv, as well as other unidentified persons from these units", reads the statement.
Russian Federation Investigation Committee states that on March 15 and 16, 2016 soldiers from 72 and 93 separate mechanized brigades "implemented aiming shelling in Yasinovata and Staromykhailivka, Donetsk region of Ukraine, which resulted in damaged infrastructure of Yasinovata checkpoint, power line, and the damaged households in Staromykhailivka village".
Soldiers of the 30th separate mechanized brigade allegedly carried out the impact shelling of a residential house in Nikitovske and Gorlivka on March 16, 2016, in which two civilians were injured.
On March 24, 28, 2016 soldiers of the 14th mechanized brigade of the Armed forces of Ukraine allegedly fired at Petrovsky and Kyivskyi region of Donetsk, leaving one civilian injured and destroyed houses.
Another case was initiated on the fact of the alleged shelling of Makiivka on October 27, 2016, as a result of which two people were killed and at least five were injured.
Recall that on October 24 Russia’s IC also filed criminal charges against the six commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On October 11 the Russian Investigation Committee opened a criminal case against the management and employees of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, which were charged with organizing a criminal group that kidnapped Russian citizens.
On October 30 it was reported that the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic gather materials for filing lawsuits against Ukraine that will deal with war crimes allegedly committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Donbas.
