Russian special services want to damage the communication networks which provide presidential elections in Ukraine, as Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) reported on Facebook.

According to the message, the officers of the body documented that Dnipro resident created and managed the group in banned Russian social network.

Soon, it was defined that the man distributed fake news and other destructive materials, including calls for changing of Ukraine’s state border. Besides, Russians are involved in the management of the group. Their number was artificially increased to create an illusion of large-scale resistance to the state’s system.

The investigation determined that the Internet-provocateur, who works in a contract organization in the telecommunication sector, had electronic correspondence with the resident of Russia, who, in his turn, was interested in information about strategically important telecommunication operators network, location of telecommunication nodes and periods of time required for restoration after destruction.

“As Russia’s special services intended, mass damage of cable lines and equipment of certain communication operators will lead to disruption of the functioning of units of State Voter Register and blockage of the work of some parts of Unified information analytical system “Elections” which is being implemented now,” the message says.

A criminal proceeding has started.

Earlier, SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak stated that Russian special services started an action of burning of churches and intimidation of priests in Ukraine.
