The number of those infected with Covid-19 in Russia reached 93,558. Given that development of situation, Russian leader Vladimir Putin prolonged the quarantine until May 11, as Reuters quoted him.

"We are no approaching a new, perhaps the most intensive stage of combat with the pandemic", he said during the video conference with 85 Russian governors. 

Putin asked the citizens to avoid mass events and gatherings during the May holidays, when people usually travel and go for barbecue parties in the open air.

The Russian President ordered his government to prepare a new plan of urgent support of the economy, as it is heavily influenced by the ongoing pandemic.

Currently, this country is ranked eighth in the world in terms of Covid-19 morbidity rate. On April 28, 6,411 new cases were confirmed. The disease claimed 867 lives in Russia.
