According to the sources, Rebecca Ross was put on the blacklist due to the responsive actions to actions of the U.S. that do not allow Russia to fill the vacant position of the spokesperson of the Russian Embassy in Washington.

“They…do not admit to Washington a person appointed by us to the position of spokesperson of our diplomatic mission, meanwhile, without explanation of any reasons. The issue is about diplomats with considerable experience who earlier occupied a similar position in another two embassies of Russia. The U.S. just returned the documents filed by this person for a visa and even did not comment on the reasons for refusal. It is not a Russian initiative,” the message said.
