Russia enhances its Black Sea fleet with small ship equipped with long-range cruise missile

Kalibr-NK missile system is used for defeating the naval and coastal targets.

Russia enhanced its Black Sea fleet by a new small rocket ship “Orekhovo-Zuyevo” equipped with a long-range cruise missile “Kalibr”, as Interfax reported referring to the data of Russia’s fleet press office.

It was noted that a ceremony of presenting the ship to the Russian fleet was held in the occupied Sevastopol.

“Obviously, the Black Sea fleet is becoming stronger, which means that Russia is also becoming stronger in the southern maritime direction,” the press office cites Aleksandr Moiseyev, Russian Black Sea Fleet Commander.

He stated that patrol ship “Vasiliy Bykov” will be included in the fleet till the end of December, and patrol ship “Dmitry Rohachev”, marine minesweeper “Ivan Antonov” and a high-speed transport and landing boat of a new project – in 2019.

It was noted that a new small rocket ship “Orekhovo-Zuyevo” is a multi-purpose ship equipment with the artillery, rocket, anti-aircraft and radio-electronic weapons. It is the seventh ship of the modernized “Buyan-M” class, constructed for Russia’s Black Sea fleet. The ships of this project were constructed using a long-range missile arms, a universal missile complex “Kalibr-NK” used for defeating marine and coastal targets.

It was reminded that the Russian Black Sea Fleet received three new frigates, six diesel electrical subs and several small rocket ships. All of them are equipped with long-range cruise missile “Kalibr”.
