Russia deploys S-400 air defense systems in Crimea

Russia deployed S-400 air defense systems in the occupied Crimea on the territory of Yevpatoria, designed for the elimination of the aircraft of strategic aviation, RIA News reported.

The third division of S-400 “Triumf” anti-aircraft guided missile system from the compound of the anti-aircraft defense of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation came on duty. 

It is noted that combat crews deployed launching installation at positions, held the orientation of the complex on the ground and began to track the targets.

According to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation claimed that S-400 “Triumf” designed for elimination of strategic bombers, ballistic and cruise missiles, and can be used against ground objects. 

It should be noted that Russia holds regular military exercises on the peninsula after the annexation of Crimea. Ukrainian HQ consider the actions of the Russian military in Crimea illegal.
