The State Duma of Russia has created a special task group, which will estimate the loss supposedly inflicted to occupied Crimea by Ukraine as Interfax reported citing Spokesperson of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
He noted that First Vice-Speaker Ivan Melnikov headed the task group.
“Concerning the analysis of the damage and loss inflicted to Crimea and Sevastopol during 23 years of the annexation by Ukraine, we will discuss this issue today at council of the State Duma; we will proceed to the adoption of the particular solutions, within which, we will try to involve the economists, scientists, representatives of the regions, considering the situation in Crimea and Sevastopol, and proceed to the final document,” Volodin stated.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin commented this information on Facebook, calling it “another crisis of genre”.
“They have “another crisis of genre in the State Duma; they have begun to count the debt of Ukraine during 23 years of the annexation of Crimea: they created the task group, they estimate the losses; it's serious. Why did nobody in Ukraine demand compensations for a few centuries of the Russian occupation of Ukraine? However….,” the minister wrote.
Earlier Vyacheslav Volodin offered to demand the compensations from Ukraine for economic losses of Crimea when it was Ukrainian.
“Ukraine dealt with Crimea very dishonorable; the fundamental rights of the Crimean citizens were violated – the right for language, right for education; it violated the economy of Crimea and Sevastopol, it was almost the annexation. We should call the things how they are. Within the parliamentary structures,” Volodin stated.
U.S. Congress House of Representatives approved the draft bill, which defines the non-recognition of the sovereignty of the Russian Federation over Crimea, its airspace or waters as the policy of the U.S. on March 12.
Crimea was annexed by Russia after the illegal referendum held on the peninsula in March 2014. Earlier, the Russian military captured all strategic military objects and buildings of the key authoritative bodies. Neither Ukraine nor the rest of the civilized countries recognized the results of the referendum. A number of the European and the world countries, including Ukraine, imposed the economic sanctions against Russia.
As we reported Google corporation began to show occupied Crimea as a part of Russia for Russian users.
