Russia’s defense enterprises are ready to develop and manufacture some new offensive weaponry, which includes projects of a 100-ton ballistic missile and a railway-mounted missile launcher Barguzin (river in Russia, - 112 International). Dmitriy Rogozin, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister said that in his interview with the Russian press.
‘Our military industry is absolutely ready for production – provided that the respective decision is made, and these initiatives are approved before they join the state-funded arms program,’ Rogozin said.
According to the Russian outlet, designers expect to complete working on the new railway-mounted missile launcher by 2018; the new vehicle is meant to considerably surpass his predecessor, production of which was cancelled in 2005.
As parties to the New START agreement (signed in 2010; took effect in spring 2011, - 112 International), neither Russia nor the United States are restricted to design and produce new missile launchers.
