As Shoygu said since 2012 Russian Armed Forces have received 109 RS-24 Yars (thermonuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile, - ed.) and 108 submarine-launched ballistic missiles. It was also specified that 38 military units were formed over this period, which received over 2000 drones. Medium-range drones will be sent on arms in 2019.

As it was reported, in late 2019, the UN General Assembly supported that resolution “On the issue of militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol (Ukraine) and parts of Black and Azov Seas.” The document urges Russia to withdraw its forces from Crimea and stop illegal occupation of Ukraine.

Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014. Crimea was declared a temporarily occupied territory. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced February 20, 2014, the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. On October 7, 2015, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko signed the relevant law. International organizations recognized the occupation and annexation of Crimea illegal and condemned Russia's actions. The West introduced a series of economic sanctions. Russia denies the occupation of the peninsula and calls it a "restoration of historical justice."
