Russia, Belarus start Zapad-2021 military drills

The Zapad-2021 military drills have started in Russia on September 9. This year, the military men from Belarus participate in them as Belta reported.

The military men of countries participants, officers of the defense ministries and general staffs, representatives of Kazakhstan visited the opening ceremony of the drills.

The exercises will take place in two stages. The first one starts on September 10. It is supposed to develop issues of management of subordinated large units and military units during the repulse of the act of aggression, as well as the organization of interaction.

During the second stage, it is planned to hold the management of troops (forces) during the end of the frustration of opponents and restoration of lost position. For maneuvers in Belarus, the Obuz-Lesnovsky combat training range, Domanovsky training range of the Air Forces and Air Defence Troops, Ružany air training range, and Brest training range.

The drills take place in over 2,000 km - from Kaliningrad Oblast up to Voronezh and Nizhny Novgorod Oblasts.

About 200,000 military men, up to 15 vessels, over 80 planes, and helicopters, over 290 tanks, 240 weapons, multiple rocket launchers, and mortars.

The European countries and Ukraine have negatively responded to the joint drills of Russia and Belarus. The countries state that the drills pose a direct threat to them.

As we reported, Poland prepares for the possible military aggression from the side of Russia.

Besides, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the Russian Federation will supply Belarus with dozens of aircraft, helicopters, and air defense systems.
