Russia is conducting emergency training exercises with the use of mobile short-range ballistic missile system Iskander-M in Ivanovo region. The Head of the press-service of Western Command Igor Muginov reported that, according to TASS.
Military men shall practice single and multiple missile attacks. About 500 people an 80 pieces of military hardware are involved.
“During the training the short-range ballistic missile system Iskander-M shall march many kilometers across country mainly at nighttime, practice single and multiple missile attacks from prepared and unprepared launching sites. Every military unit shall perform 30 special tasks,” – said Muginov.
The main goal of the training is to check the capacity of the missile system to rapidly reposition deploy over great distances and demonstrate fieldcraft on unfamiliar territory.
Iskander-M is a mobile short-range ballistic missile system produced and deployed by the Russian Federation.
The Iskander-M system is equipped with two solid-propellant single-stage guided missiles, model 9M723K1. Each one is controlled throughout the entire flight path and fitted with an inseparable warhead. Each missile in the launch carrier vehicle can be independently targeted in a matter of seconds. The mobility of the Iskander launch platform makes a launch difficult to prevent.
