The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation asked the US Embassy in Moscow to revoke diplomatic immunity from three employees of the embassy. Diplomats are suspected of "stealing things from a Russian citizen." It is reported by the Voice of America.

"A note has been sent to the US Embassy with a request to lift diplomatic immunity to prosecute three American diplomatic officials in connection with their identification as suspects in theft of personal belongings from a Russian citizen," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry added that if the United States refuses to deprive suspects of diplomatic immunity, all three diplomats will have to leave Russia immediately.

Earlier it was reported that Moscow does not exclude that Russia may close its mission in NATO due to the decision of the Alliance to halve its number. NATO leaders decided to expel eight Russian diplomats from Brussels and abolish the posts of two others. Thus, 10 people will remain in the Russian mission instead of the previous 20.
