Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs recommended the Verkhovna Rada to terminate the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia, as it was decided at the session on December 5, Ukrainian News reported.
The Committee recommended the Parliament to approve the presidential bill No. 0206 on termination of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia.
Vasyl Bondar, Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that voting for this document is a domestic procedure required to cease the treaty.
“The Internal Ministry regarded this treaty important in protecting Ukraine’s interests in the courts till summer 2018. As all of these court procedures required so that the international court can consider our lawsuit are completed, it does not have any value as earlier,” Bondar said.
According to him, the question of the denunciation of the treaty between Ukraine and Russia on cooperation to use Azov Sea and Kerch Strait is considered by the service.
As it was reported, President Poroshenko presented a bill on termination of the Treaty of Friendship with Russia. The Head of the State proposes to cease the operation of the treaty since April 1, 2019.
