Poland names Russian aggression in Azov Sea most important international event in 2018

The Poles consider Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in the Azov Sea the most important international event of 2018, according to the survey conducted by the Research Centre of Public Opinion in Poland

“According to the results of the survey, the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s independence is one of the most significant events which happened in the country (40%). Poles consider the Russian fleet attack against the Ukrainian vessels in Azov Sea the most important event on the international stage (6%),” the message says.

On November 25, the coast guard ships of the Russian Navy attacked the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, which have been carrying out a scheduled transition from Odesa port to Mariupol port in the Sea of Azov. 

21 Ukrainian sailors have been delivered to Lefortovo remand center in Moscow, three others are in the hospital of Matrosskaya Tishina prison, also in the Russian capital. On December 3, the Russian prosecutors officially accused Ukrainian sailors with the 'illegal crossing of the state border' during the attack in the Kerch Strait.
