The Nord Stream-2 is exclusively a political project. President of Slovakia Andrej Kiska claimed this at the joint meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
‘Slovakia has always stressed that this is not an economic project but political. This is very important to understand if someone constantly says that this is only a business project. No, no way! This is only a political project,’ Kiska claimed.
In his turn, President Petro Poroshenko added that the parties held negotiations on the coordination of efforts to prevent the construction of a politically motivated Russian project North Stream-2.
It is noteworthy that the construction of the gas pipeline is being undertaken by the company, which owns 100 percent of the shares - Gazprom. One of the foreign investors of the gas pipeline is OWV Austrian company. Earlier, Rainer Zele, Head of the company said that the sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 would be unfair.
The construction of the Nord Stream-2 became a topic, which recently was discussed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a joint press statement before the talks, Merkel claimed that Ukraine should remain the participant in the gas transit process to Europe after the launch of the Nord Stream-2.
