Ukraine and Russia will negotiate about restrictions of gas transit to Central Asian countries. The talks will be held on November 10. Natalya Mykolska, Ukraine’s trade representative, said this as quoted by Channel 24.

‘We’ve got three respective requests, all of them sent to the WTO, and respective lawsuits. The first one concerns the imports of car wagons and railroad facilities. The second one concerns transit restrictions on the gas sector, and we’re going to negotiate with Russia about it on November 10. The third lawsuit is due to the restriction of imports of some products of Ukrainian origin to Russia,’ she said.

She added Ukraine won’t be suing Russia for the food embargo that the Kremlin imposed in early 2016 – only for phytosanitary, veterinary and other relevant restrictions.

Previously, Ukraine’s Ministry for Agrarian Policy said the EU would join Ukraine’s lawsuits against Russia; however, Moscow refused to include the EU as the third party to the negotiations.

Ukraine had raised the issue of Russia’s illegal restrictions of transit during the WTO Council General session in February and July this year. The respective WTO committees considered options how to remove these obstacles; many countries such as the U.S., Canada, the EU, Japan, Australia, Switzerland, Korea and Turkey.
