Military drills East – 2018 starts in Russia

The military drills "East – 2018", which are the biggest one in the last four decades, has started in Russia as the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

It is noted that the drills will take place from September 11 until September 17.

"The maneuvers will take place in two stages, during the first one, the deployment of the troops at the Far East, scaling up of the forces of the Russian Navy at the North and Far East sea zones will be finished; the organization issues of the interaction and full provision of the military actions in the interests of the fulfillment of the objectives will be worked out. During the second stage, the commanders and headquarters will work out the issues of the managing of the different forces with the practical workout of the defensive and offensive actions," the message said.

It is reported that 300,000 soldiers, more than 1,000 airplanes, helicopters and drones, up to 36,000 tanks, armoured personnel carriers and other hardware, up to 80 vessels attracted to the maneuvers.

As we reported the planned command military exercises will be held in the territory controlled by the "DNR" grouping in Donbas. In total, more than 4,000 personnel and more than 300 units of military equipment will take part in them.

Earlier the joint drills of the soldiers of Ukraine and Romania Riverine – 2018 were held. The Navy and border guards of Ukraine and Romania mastered the tactical elements in accordance with the NATO standards as a part of the boat task forces and improved the interaction of the Coast Guards in the covering of the above-water situation at Danube River, tactical maneuvering and holding of the surveillance operations.
