"Today we present a draft resolution [on countering terrorism to build up the fight against the ISIS] to the members of the Security Council. It is based on previously adopted documents of the Council, with a focus on taking coherent counter-terrorism measures on the basis of principles of the international law," said Sergei Lavrov at the ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council.
"Rapid growth of the threat posed by ISIS, forces to adjust the practical coordination of all forces opposing the terrorists," noted Russian minister. He listed the countries able to settle the Syrian issue, namely Russia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Qatar. In addition, Lavrov highlighted that EU and China also might be very helpful in solving the situation.
Moscow calls for coordinated efforts of all forces that can fight the ISIS, and used for the planning of joint actions Military Staff Committee of the United Nations. According to Lavrov, "this is the case when the military expertise of permanent Security Council members is needed for the benefit of the most efficient alignment of the counter-terrorist operation".
Russian side assured that besides contributing Russian Air Forces to the Syrian Arab Republic, the country is ready to provide communication channels to resolve the conflict.
