Locusts put in danger successful hosting of FIFA World Cup in Russia. Pyotr Chekmarev, the official from the Agriculture Ministry reported that on Thursday.
According to him, the swarms of insects engulfed a million hectares of land in southern Russia, specifically the town of Volgograd, which is to host the game between England and Tunisia. Chekmarev added the locusts love greenery and it is possible that the swarm will gather around the local stadium before or during the game.
The championship is to kick off on June 14. The games will be held in eleven cities all over Russia.
