Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov says that he “won’t take it out on American citizens” after the today’s decision of the US to suspend issuing non-immigrant visas all over Russia, as RBK reports from a briefing with the minister.
“I can say one thing. We won’t take it out on American citizens… If someone had hoped, that bad example is catchy, they were very wrong,” Lavrov said.
The minister added that the US is trying to make the Russian citizens discontent with the Russian government actions.
“It’s a known strategy. It’s the strategy of those, who organize “color revolutions”. And it’s the inertia of the Obama administration in its purest form,” Lavrov said.
As it was reported earlier, the United States decided to suspend the issue of non-immigrant visas throughout Russia from August 23. This is the response to Russia's decision to reduce the US diplomatic presence in Russia to 455 people, which is the number of Russian diplomats in the USA. Since the introduction of the US sanctions against Russia, the relation betweeen the countries has been tense.
