The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk and said that Russia was trying to destroy Ukraine’s sovereignty, and its attacks in Azov Sea prove that, as the President’s Administration reported.

“Kremlin’s goal is to destroy the Ukrainian statehood, to create the so-called second version of the Soviet Union. Mr. President, you know very well what the Soviet Union is, what the Warsaw Pact is, what the past is, from which we came together with you. Only our effective actions, our solidarity will prevent the return to these grievous times,” Poroshenko said.

He also thanked Tusk for his personal position to support Ukraine.

“You will always be in history as a person who has done a lot for Ukraine. And the Ukrainian people are very grateful to you. I am very happy that on these very important days for Ukraine, we are with you,” the President added.
