The jury of Kinotavr film festival demands that the Russian government release Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who carries on with his hunger strike in the Russian custody for 29 consecutive days.
The respective demand may be found in the statement released by the head of the jury Aleksey Popogrebsky and head of the jury of the debut section of the festival Andrey Plakhov. Radio Liberty reported this on Monday morning.
The jury also demanded to release Kirill Serebrennikov, the Russian director, who is under home arrest since August 2017. Back then, the Russian law enforcers charged him with embezzlement, which he denies and claims to be absurd. The artist's supporters said that the case against him was politically motivated.
