Iran supplied components of heavy weaponry to Russia, directly breaching the resolution of UN Security Council No.2231; the document prohibits any supplies and servicing of heavy offensive weaponry.
According to Welt am Sonntag, the Sunday add-on for Die Welt outlet, Western intelligence agencies found out that in June, two Iranian aircraft landed at Khmeymim air field, the key air base of the Russian military in Syria. They carried the equipment involved in construction of heavy weaponry, which then was shipped further to Novorossiysk, Russia.
The outlet enclosed a photo of Iranian plane at Khmeymim air base, without specifying the date when the photo was taken.
