According to the source data, Germany is the largest importer from Russia (€33 billion) and the larger exporter to Russia (€26 billion) in 2018.
The Russian Federation was the third-largest EU import partner and the fourth-largest export partner from the European Union (EU) in 2018.
During 2008-2018, Russia had been importing from the European Union more than exporting to the EU member countries. The highest trade deficit was in 2011 (€93 billion) and the lowest in 2016 (€46 billion). The trade deficit between Russia and the EU countries made €83 billion.
The European Union mainly transported the vehicles, chemicals and commodity goods. Russia sold to Member States tradable commodities. Most of the exported goods from the EU to Russia were medecines; oil made most of the imported products from Russia to the EU.
