Gazprom does not reserve extra gas transit capacity via Ukraine for August

Russian Gazprom refused to book additional gas transit capacity through Ukraine for August. This is evidenced by data on the Regional Booking Platform system, Interfax reports.

On July 27, Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) put up for auction additional transit capacities for July (63.7 mcm per day), they were completely unclaimed.

In 2021, Gazprom has long-term capacities of Ukrainian capacities in the volume of 40 billion cubic meters – 109 million cubic meters per day; 15 million cubic meters were reserved additionally during the auction – totally, 124 million cubic meters per day.

Earlier this year, Gazprom did not book additional capacities - in May, June and even July, despite scheduled repairs on the concern's main export routes: Nord Stream and Yamal-Europe. The concern did not increase the booking of Ukrainian facilities compensating by taking gas from storage facilities in Europe.

As it was reported arlier, Ukraine, Russia, and the EU signed a new gas contract, which is to last for five years and it can be extended for 10 years.
