The European Union will take the decision on extending economic sanctions against Russia straight after the EU Summit in Brussels on December 15, reports UNIAN citing a European diplomat.
It is also reported that the decision is going to be taken on the written procedure.
“The decision on the economic sanctions for Russia shall be taken straight after the Summit on the written procedure,” the diplomat said.
According to him, the EU relations with Russia shall be the matter of discussion during the summit, but the leaders will simply “acquiesce” the sanctions.
“Nothing changed – there’s no call for the EU to revise their decision because it was based on the failure to implement Minsk agreement,” specified the source.
As we reported earlier, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said sanctions against Russia should be continued.
