Earlier, Lithuania and Estonia demanded an explanation from Russia in connection with the violation of their airspace by Russian military aircraft. According to DW, a representative of the Russian Embassy was summoned to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry on June 16 after two Russian Air Force planes crossed the country's airspace over the Baltic Sea.

“Lithuania demands that Russia provide explanations for this incident and take all necessary measures so that such incidents do not recur in the future,” the ministry noted in a statement.

According to the Lithuanian side, the Russian Su-24 planes entered the Lithuanian airspace over the Baltic Sea for one kilometer staying in it for about a minute. The Lithuanian Defense Ministry believes that such actions are connected with the US-organized international combat training BALTOPS in the Baltic region.
