Demonstration in support of Ukrainian political prisoners held near Russian Embassy in Kyiv

A demonstration in support of the Ukrainian political prisoners detained in Russia was held near the Embassy of Russia in Kyiv, according to our reporter.

“The participants of the demonstration read out the names of those who are unlawfully detained in Russia, including 20 political prisoners and 30 individuals, who are under investigation in Russia, and greeted them on the New Year,” our reporter said.

The participants of the demonstration phrased their hope that the ones detained now will be heard with the help of the media. 

They also called on the Ukrainian authorities to speed up the process of releasing the prisoners held in Donbas.

As we reported earlier, 103 individuals are still held captive in Donbas. Apart from those, there are over 70 political prisoners in Crimea, and around 2.200 Ukrainians detained in Russia for different reasons.
