Marc-André Blanchard, the Permanent Representative of Canada to the UN, urged the international community to stop Russia’s destabilizing activities in Ukraine, as Ukrinform reports.

“The illegal annexation and occupation of Crimea is a clear violation of the international law. The respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity is not just an idea, it's a basis of the UN Charter. We can’t let Russia continue its destabilizing activities,” Blanchard said.

According to him, “the rules have to concern everyone”, so that the international order would work for everyone.

“Our determination to provide responsibility in Myanmar, Syria, Ukraine, and Venezuela is followed by a deep desire to better the humanitarian situation for millions of victims both inside the countries and in their regions,” the diplomat noted.

He added that Canada’s actions in Ukraine “are ruled by a complete dedication to the protection and support of human rights.”

Besides, the U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May accused Russia of a gross violation of the international norms.
