Maria Zakharova the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia claimed that the ban of the of St. George’s Ribbon is an element of the enmity and gives a rise to postpone the implementation of the Minsk Agreements. ‘The bill passed in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will harm them but not to us. The reason for them to do this is the big question. It is enough to remember the ban to the production and expansion of the St. George’s Ribbon. You fully realize that the things that take place in Russia will not influence the inner processes in Ukraine but cause the great negative influence on them’, Zakharova claimed.

According to her, the ban of the Ribbon is the factor of impossibility to reunite people in many regions and it is a reason to postpone the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.  

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine introduced the administrative responsibility for the St. George’s Ribbon on May 16. According to the law, people wearing the St. George’s Ribbon and who are not veterans of war should pay a fine for the first caution and for the second caution they will get 15 days of the detainment.
