In the Russian Federation, criminal proceedings were initiated against an activist because he unintentionally knocked a cap off a police officer's head with a flag of Ukraine. This was reported by Mediazona.
So, on July 18, the action against criminal prosecution of the Crimean Tatars took place in the city of Gatchina. Activist Volodymyr Shypitsyn came with a poster "Freedom for Prisoners of Hizb ut-Tahrir case" and a Ukrainian flag.
Russian police detained six protesters, including Shypitsyn. One of the law enforcement officers approached the activist and pulled his arm. As a result, Shypitsyn fell down and inadvertently knocked a policeman's cap off with the flag's plastic hilt.
Thus, the Investigative Committee opened a case against the activist under Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Use of Violence Against a Representative of the Power).
"He is accused of hitting a police officer on the head with the flag's plastic handle," Shypitsyn's lawyer Anton Yupanov said.
As we reported earlier, police apprehended more than 130 people during protests against the constitutional amendments that took place in Moscow.
