Fedir Venislavsky, the President's representative in the Constitutional Court, said that President Volodymyr Zelensky's bill, which suggests terminating the powers of members of the court, was inconsistent with the Constitution of Ukraine. This was reported by Ukranews.
"It is hardly possible to say that the bill complies with the Constitution, but there are clear threats to national security in the actions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine ... Therefore, the National Security and Defense Council recommended the President to act politically and legally and restart the Constitutional Court of Ukraine because no legal mechanisms will give any legal consequences in this case,” Venislavskyi told.
It is also reported that the judges of the Constitutional Court had a conflict of interest. Several judges involved in resolving this issue had a clear conflict of interest, while others had a potential conflict of interest.
The official added that only the Constitutional Court could bring the judges of that court to justice.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted draft law No.4288 for the Parliament's consideration. The bill offers MPs to deprive the Constitutional Court judges of their authorities and to restore the law on declaration that the Court had previously canceled.
