Presidential Office condemns and recognizes the march on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of Waffen-SS Division "Galicia", which was held in Kyiv, illegal. This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.
It is noted that the small number of participants and the manipulations of the organizers with the filing of an application for participation in the march cannot even be a reason to justify this situation.
"We strongly condemn any propaganda of totalitarian regimes, including the National Socialist regime, and attempts to reconsider the truth about World War II. There was no and could not be any Ukrainian interest in the Nazis trying to use people in the occupied territories for their own purposes. The defeat of Nazism was a victory for our people. Ukrainians, together with other nations, have won the right to life, " the statement reads.
The President's office also informed that Ukraine's international partners have already been informed that violations of the relevant legislation in Ukraine will have logical consequences for any person who is guilty of it.
"We expect the National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to establish all the circumstances of what happened and bring to justice all those guilty of violating the law. Law enforcement officers have every opportunity to do so. We expect the head of the Kyiv City State Administration to inspect and report to the community of Kyiv on why it became possible to hold this so-called march, " the statement says.
On April 28, about 250 people marched in black embroidered shirts (vyshyvankas) on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of Waffen-SS Division "Galicia" and came on the Independence Square in Kyiv.
