President Zelensky's authorities that imposed sanctions against Ukraine's top three rating channels violated the Constitution of Ukraine and Ukrainian legislation, as the Law of Ukraine "On Sanctions" does not apply to them. This was stated by Taras Kozak, a member of the political council of the party Opposition Platform - For Life.
"In an effort to avoid responsibility for political persecution, the current government is spreading false information that the imposition of sanctions was allegedly adopted ‘on the basis of anti-terrorist legislation and investigation’," said Kozak
Kozak declares that these accusations are delusional, completely made up, and should be considered as outright lies. Authorities have never made such allegations against him.
Moreover, he is convinced that any far-fetched insinuations against him would be destroyed in Ukrainian courts or in the European Court of Human Rights. Therefore, the authorities will never dare to publish the results of those "investigations" that formed the basis for the imposition of sanctions against him and television channels.
Kozak stressed that even the authorities themselves recognize this.
"Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov stated at the briefing that the accusations that formed the basis for the imposition of sanctions were all assumptions and might not be entirely true. As Mikhail Bulgakov aptly remarked in his novel ‘The Master and Margarita’, which was banned by the authorities: ‘Congrats, citizen, you done lied!’,” the statement said.
"This 'investigation' is the same lie as Zelensky's promises in Paris set out in the memorandum of December 9, 2019, the same lie as the words of the Ukrainian President more than a year ago that the government has an 'interesting decision' that will reduce the price for heating for the population in half. It is the same lie as the promise to develop a Ukrainian vaccine or to bring eight million doses of the COVAX vaccine to Ukraine. Surprisingly, some European officials still do not understand what kind of liar and professional lyceum they are dealing with," the parliamentarian added.
As we reported earlier, on February 2, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on sanctions against 112 Ukraine, NewsONE, and ZiK TV channels.
By this decree, he enforced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions on the cancellation of the broadcasting licenses of the TV channels belonging to Taras Kozak (112 Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK).
