President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The officials negotiated during the ongoing session of the UN General Assembly. His press office reported that on September 22.
The Ukrainian leader informed von der Leyen about the worsening situation in Crimea, taking into account the new wave of illegal and politically motivated arrests. Head of the Ukrainian state brought up the issue of assistance in the release of almost 450 Ukrainians who are illegally held in the occupied territories and in Russia.
Zelensky and the Head of the European Commission also discussed preparations for the 23rd EU-Ukraine summit. The event is to take place in Kyiv on October 12. The head of the state claimed that recognition of the European future and further integration of Ukraine's economy in the EU domestics market are among the key priorities for the country.
As is known, on September 21, Zelensky joined the opening ceremony of the session of the UN General Assembly.
