President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will discuss with the head of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach the possibility of holding the Olympics in Ukraine. Zelensky said this during a briefing.
"Part of our conversation will concern the future of Ukraine, how much Ukraine needs to do to become a country that will host the Olympic Games. I really want us to be such a country," Zelensky said.
Note that this is not the first time that Zelensky has announced the intentions to fight for Ukraine's participation in the Olympics. So, in 2019, the president announced the need to finance facilities for the Olympics.
Last September, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Gutsait said that President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed him to start preparing the country for the Olympics. And the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak said that Ukraine plans to participate in the competition to host the Olympic Games in 2028 or 2030.
