In case of the successful holding of the Normandy Four summit, Volodymyr Zelensky plans to submit the bill on the extension of the special status of the local self-government in uncontrolled part of Donbas as European Truth reported citing presidential assistant Andriy Yermak.
“On the results of this summit, we are ready to submit for consideration of the parliament the bill on the extension of the actions of this law. And at the beginning of the next year we are ready to propose the amendment to this law,” he reported.
The stipulated amendments will consider the agreements reached in the talks in Paris. Besides, the implementation of Steinmeier formula will begin.
However, Yermak noted that such prospects are possible only in case of the success of the summit. If ‘Russia has no readiness for the progress’, then the president ‘has plan B’.
As we reported earlier, the Normandy format meeting of the countries' leaders is scheduled for December 9 and will be held in the Palais de l'Élysée in Paris. The Office of the President of Ukraine in its turn confirmed that all sides agreed on the date of the Normandy Format summit – December 9, Paris as the office.
However, Kremlin spokesman urges not to overestimate expectations from the Normandy summit. Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the Russian President, reiterated it is necessary to pass a law on the special status of Donbas as part of the Minsk agreements.
