Zelensky thanks Japan for its support of Ukraine and for considering visa-free regime

The president of Ukraine also stressed the necessity of Japan's potential visa waiver for Ukrainians

At the meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Japan for its support and consideration of the visa-free regime, the press service of the President's Office reports.

"They are grateful for Japan's consistent policy of supporting Ukraine and not recognizing the illegal occupation of Crimea, maintaining sanctions against Russia," Zelensky stated.

Zelensky informed on his Twitter page that Ukraine is also grateful for Japan’s financial support, which has reached 1.8 billion dollars since 2014 and relaxation of visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens since January 1, 2018.

The program of the visit includes Zelensky's meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, leaders of the bicameral parliament of Japan, members of Japanese parliamentary association of friendship with Ukraine and other officials. Bilateral meeting with leaders of foreign states is planned as well.
